WABAUNSEE COUNTY EVACUATION ADVISORY DOWNGRADED TO HIGH WATER ADIVSORY
The evacuation advisory for Wabaunsee County residents in and around the Kansas River flood plain has been lifted. As waters continue to recede, the potential for flooding has lowered. Residents who evacuated their homes due to the flood risk may return.
Wabaunsee County officials will continue to monitor Tuttle Creek Lake and Kansas River levels, and weather forecasts. Although there are no present flooding concerns, river water levels are high, swiftly moving, and full of debris. Officials recommend people remain out of the Kansas River. Residents living in the area previously under the advisory should continue monitoring weather forecasts and water levels as weather changes may impact water levels.
Up-to-date flood information may be found by visiting the Wabaunsee County Facebook pages: (Emergency Management; Sheriff, @wabaunseesheriff; Health Department, @WabaunseeCoHD; Economic Development, @wabaunsee.economicdevelopment).
