I'm back... and in full get ready mode, for Tuesday's Art Night at WES~ that will be from 5:15-6:15 pm- before the music program! Thanks again for ALL of your support, with running the Boston Marathon, on Monday... my heart is truly SO full! I am pretty happy with my run- not too shabby of a time- for having a hip injury, stopping twice to use the restroom and also two stops at aid stations for ice. YOU got me through, Wabaunsee! PROUD to be a Charger!!

I know, I know.... you are probably thinking. "you should be resting!" ...BUT I just had to see if I could meet "Riley, the Museum Dog", that the Alma and Maple Hill Elementary Students studied in 2021! Well, Riley and his family are on Spring Break, BUT I did get to go to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where he "works"! Here, I found the book we used for our studies in the museum store (an even a stuffed animal of Riley)... AND even though I didn't have too much time at the museum, today, I managed to find pieces of art that we looked at (and some reproduced) from the book! So fun!! (see links below, to learn about this past project) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10et_GfAf1ecyOw0KcNIveONLcBJb-jNo?usp=drive_link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10et_GfAf1ecyOw0KcNIveONLcBJb-jNo?usp=drive_link

Hello, from Boston! Got in late last night!!! ...and oh my goodness; I think this is the most community support I’ve ever received~ with running a race- even for the 2 Boston Marathons I have ran previously!! I am completely overwhelmed… in a positive way, of course! …and the big race is still 3 days, away!!! (…and you know me, if I haven’t responded back to you yet; I will eventually. #petpeave)I actually have now lived and worked in the Manhattan, Kansas area for 21 years, next month. As much I really want to move to the beach; I cannot imagine moving away from this place I call home! I truly believe- your home can not only be places, but people, too… ie.- my Kansas community!!…BUT one of the people I call home, does not live in my community or even Kansas! She is my Aunt. Yes, actual family!! You cannot choose your family, we all know this… but I would choose her- over and over. Almost all of my family (mom- deceased in ’21 and dad’s side), live in Minnesota… but, I never lived there. Growing up, our family (mom, dad and brother) “vacations” though, consisted of driving to the Twin Cities every summer and sometimes either Thanksgiving or Christmas. Now, I put vacation in quotes, because you are probably picturing hours of being in the car… and really, to the same place- over and over?! …BUT, oh how I looked forward to going to a real city (we mostly lived in small towns in the Midwest- moving almost every two years- eventually ending up in Ohio- (which is another home and story)! Besides all of the arts, culture and food… the greatest part, was family! I could talk about all of it’s members and the effect they have had on my life… but “this” here though, is about not only my Aunt- my family- but one of my best friends. My Aunt did in fact show me all the coolness of city Iife- she lived in a loft, we went to art fairs, fantastic places to eat, festivals, attended sporting events/concerts, went to different churches and even the gym together (sorry if I am forgetting things, Auntie! I can honestly say, that if it wasn’t for the experiences I had in Minneapolis, with you- I would not be an art teacher, today) She went above and beyond, when showing/letting me experience all these things… treating me! I have always felt spoiled by her… but oh, so grateful!! She is still doing this, by planning and providing such a wonderful Boston Marathon Experience for us! I wish I had more words to tell her how truly thankful I am, for her!!…not only have I been given so much from her- but she has also, as I mentioned above, been one of my best friends- in life! I cannot think of a time that she wasn’t present for me… maybe not physical- but always showing up~ birthdays, graduations, marriage- losses and gains. That to me, is the definition of a friend… and bonus, again, my family… my home. ...and both being runners (could write a novel about this), we also have that connection- we have ran together several times, but I think this race together- the Boston Marathon- will be the one I remember the most. Thanks, again, Eileen! Truly, there is- no place like “home”…  <3 Thanks for letting me share... and I will be running for you, also my home, on Monday- #USD 329!

Here is a just a glimpse ... of over 100 contest submissions, that I uploaded today for "America's Field Trip"! Students are asked to submit writing or original artwork in response to the contest’s prompt: “What does America mean to you?” Again, good luck, Charger Artists! https://america250.org/fieldtrip/ In 2026, the United States will mark our Semiquincentennial: the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Today’s young people are the leaders, innovators, and thinkers who will shape the next 250 years — and it’s important their voices are heard as we commemorate this historic milestone. America’s Field Trip is a contest that invites students across the country in grades 3–12 to be part of America’s 250th anniversary by sharing their perspectives on what America means to them — with the opportunity to earn an unforgettable field trip experience at some of the nation’s most iconic historic and cultural landmarks.
