For the third year in a row, The Charger received an All-Kansas designation from the Kansas Scholastic Press Association.
The title recognizes the Charger as one of the best high school newspapers in the state. In the last three years, the Charger was the only 1-3A school recognized.
In the All-Kansas critique, judges praised the paper for its timely service to the community. “While each issue is small, you produce relevant, timely content. Staff members should be proud of their journalistic work.”
In addition to the staff award, several WHS students placed at the State competition, which announced results Saturday. AJ Grutsch finished first in cutline writing and third in review writing, Jacob Meseke placed second in yearbook sports writing, Heather Baker placed fifth in news writing, Ava Meinhardt placed sixth in feature writing and Sophia Castillo place fifth in feature writing.
